A rare look at the forces behind a knockout punch captured by Reuters photographer Tim Shaffer Saturday night in Atlantic City, N.J.
"I felt that punch all the way up my shoulder and back," Lavern Harvell told the press after he delivered the blow to Tony Pietrantonio's face. "So I knew he wasn't getting up."
The hit came just 31 seconds into the third round of the light heavyweight matchup that was the undercard of the Bernard Hopkins-Chad Dawson title fight televised by HBO.
Reporters ihttps://irst several rows heard Pietrantonio's head hit the mat hard. Officials signaled for medical assistance, but he was able to make his way to his stool and left the ring under his own power. It is not known whether he suffered a concussion.
This is Hhttps://s second straight knockout in four weeks. Pietrantonio had won six of his previous 17 fights.
